Me & Brenda Lee

I'm heartbroken when I think that I wasted so many nights in the karaoke bars in Ginza ignorant of the existence of this Brenda Lee song. (And actually I only found it tonight while I was doing a bit of pointed vanity googling.) This could have been my signature enka torchsong!

Yes, she's singing in Japanese and English.

One Rainy Night In Tokyo
One lonely boy no place to go
One lovely girl rain drops in hair
Two people meet they make a pair.

It never fails to happen here
It needs no special time of year
And when he says, I love you
There's little else you can do
One Rainy Night In Tokyo
Mm, oh yes.

It never fails to happen here
It needs no special time of year
And when he says, I love you
There's little else you can do
One Rainy Night In Tokyo
Mm, oh yes...

Classic!
