The Photo

Grandma T has forwarded several photo of the new baby. This is the only one that features an open-eyed baby--and she looks mighty disgruntled here.

Grandma T is quite possibly the youngest grandmother in my lineage. She, at thirty-four, beats my mother's record by four years. (My mother became a grandmother at thirty-eight--and a now a great-grandmother at fifty-seven.) The new baby's grandfather--my younger brother--would have been thirty-five years old last month.

The funny thing about all of this? The reaction of the new baby's father, who claims to be determined that his newborn daughter will definitely not be popping out any pups when she is a teenager. (My cynical response? Yeah, right.) New dad is twenty (I think), and history being what it is, I expect that he'll be a grandfather sometime between thirty-four and thirty-eight.
