This Day, Sunday

One Fine Day

The Sunday lineup these days more often than not includes lunch with Lu Ann at Saigon. So it is written, so it must be done:

Ah, the caffeinated beverage. Seriously, does it get any better than Thai iced tea or Vietnamese iced coffee? After that iced coffee, I got a very buzzed, highly sugared-up feeling. Nice! [Edited to add: Clearly, that coffee is not iced. That is a Vietnamese non-iced coffee right there.]

And there is an extreme close-up of my darling number sixty-four, the pork chops with rice and some kind of salad made of daikon, carrots, cucumbers, and lettuce. (I never touch it. Why touch a vegetable when there's meat within reach?) Dave had his usual lemongrass tofu dish and Lu Ann ate something with beef and noodles and lots of fish sauce.

After lunch, Lu Ann went off to be adopted (don't ask), and Dave and I went off to Self Serve, where I bought this (here, being sterilized in a boiling water bath):

I like the girls down at Self Serve. They aim to please! [Edited to add: Works great, too.]
