Lots of things go through my mind when I look at these old photos, scans from my mother's and grandmother's collections.
Take this photo for example. This is a photo of my mother and her brother, my uncle. I'd say that this photo was taken around 1954 which means that my mom is about three years old here and my uncle about six. Those are my best guesses as to their ages. Charming looking kids, huh?
My mother is still around of course. She's a great-grandmother now. My uncle? A few years ago his eight-year-old son went in to wake him up on Christmas morning so they could open presents and found him dead of a heroin overdose.
