Chai with Putty & Sanrio Goodies

And here' s me complaining about something:

Maybe it's because I'm part of the fast-food generation or maybe it's because I worked in restaurants for so long that I know how things should run, but waiting for lunch at Annapurna makes me so crazy sometimes. I mean, I love Ayurvedic vegetarian (and often vegan) food--it's delicious and virtuous, which is a rare combination in a cuisine--but I don't love a twenty minute wait for a bowl of rice and veggies, you know?

Anyway, yesterday was an errand day. We ran to Target then to Ta Lin, the Asian grocery. A new little store opened in Ta Lin. I forget the name, but they sell lots of Sanrio and Sanrio knockoffs. In Japan I could resist all that kawaii junk, but for some reason, yesterday I dropped a few dollars on some Badtz-Maru and Cinnamaroll stuff.

There's Badtz-Maru right there. I've long loved Badtz-Maru, but Cinnamaroll (a cute little dog with a rolled tail) came into my life accidentally, in the form of a cell phone charm I thought was a rabbit.

Here's Sanrio's description of Badtz Maru:

Badtz-Maru is one mischievous little penguin. He lives with his mother and pinball-playing father...He attends the first grade at the Gorgeous Academy. Badtz-Maru attracts a lot of attention as he walks his pet alligator, Pochi. Badtz-Maru has dreams of greatness when he grows up, but for now, he rolls his eyes at his humorous life in Gorgeoustown.

How is that not the description for the perfect child I'll never have?
