This Day, Then

This is a photo I took on this day, three years ago. This is what I wrote then by way of explanation:

We were on our way through Omiya station when we saw these boys carrying the intriguing looking sticks. Joe thought they might be archers and Sally dared me to ask them. I asked what their equipment was and they explained, in English, that it was Japanese archery. I asked if I could take their picture and they readily agreed. Carissa, Brandon, Rebecca and I jumped in. The boy (I say boy, but he's probably about eighteen or so) next to me had his arm around my waist in a pretty--for the Japanese--tight hold. And look! He's taller than I am!
