Craftzy

Today I went with Kelly First to check out the craft store across the river. (I rarely venture across the river. It’s like Little San Jose over there with all the strip malls and gas stations.) Kelly didn’t end up buying anything, but I walked out with a sack of goodies, some new felt, a bunch of embroidery floss, a grab bag of ribbons, and I forget what else. All necessary things, I swear!

I’m not crafty, I’m craftzy. It’s like ditzy, but you make stuff.

Mostly these days I’m an embroiderer. I’ve been doing some embroidered felt Christmas ornaments--Day of the Dead themed, true, but Christmas ornaments nonetheless. Today though, I branched out. I embroidered a couple of t-shirts for Dave. (My fingers are killing me. I probably stabbed myself with a needle about four times today. No joke.) Here’s one of the t-shirts:

Dirty Boy

That’s a pretty crappy picture, isn’t it? Goddamn cell phone. Well, you get the idea anyway. That’s Dirty Boy. Dirty Boy was inspired by the work of Aronzi Aronzo, a Japanese company that makes cute and strange stuff.

So that’s what I do now that I’m limiting my online time to an hour a day, I embroider.

Updated to add: Here's a crappy cell phone photo of the other t-shirt I embroidered for Dave:

Bunzo
