Thanksgiving Leftovers

Eat too much yesterday? Me, too.

Dave and I had Thanksgiving dinner with Kelly First, Kevin, Judi, and Paul, and, man, did we eat.

Kelly First made what she calls a running-around turkey (that is, an "organic" turkey not raised in one of those horrible turkey factory), mashed potatoes with celery root and green chile and garlic, stuffing, and a kalamata olive and tomato tart. Dave and I made roasted Brussels sprouts, a salad, and a tres leches cake. We also brought cheese (an aged gouda and a three-year cheddar) and crackers and chips and dip. Dave also made his magic gravy. Judi and Paul brought wine and tortilla chips and guacamole and salsa. Judi also made cranberry sauce.

After we ate dinner, we went into the living room and ate dessert and tried to make witty conversation, an impossible task when one is in a carbohydrate-induced coma.

We did not play that game where each person has to say something that they are thankful for, but I will tell you that I am thankful for garlic and green chile mashed potatoes. With gravy or without.

This morning, I go back to the gym. After a breakfast of leftover turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes.

And maybe a teeny-tiny piece of the tres-leches cake.

And about three more cups of coffee.
