It's done! The footstool is done. (That's just the top, yo. I didn't get a decent photo of the sides.) I added some glitter and I varnished the hell out of it and now it's done!
My next project is the altar or ofrenda that I want to put in our little garden.
So this is the base of the ofrenda, a rose pot (Dave's idea) from the plant nursery. I was going to use a stack of flower pots in descending size, but I like this better. It's about 45 cm tall.
It's up on the kitchen counter because I had to wash it off. It was full of dirt from being outside at the plant nursery.
This is the paint I used as a base coat:
That is the cheapest brand of acrylic paint that you can get. Here's my advice: Don't buy it. I went for cheap, but in the end it wasn't much of a deal. I bought this large size in white and several small bottles of other colors like pink and purple. (Mostly I was after the colors, not the brands. Most of my other paints were from decent brands.) But this stuff was a waste of money because I have to use several coats and it was a waste of time because it takes so long to put on several coats of paint, what with drying time between coats and so on.
Anyway, I'm using the white paint up as a base coat:
That's the first base coat. You can see how thin it is at the top and bottom because the pot was still wet.
So there it is. What's next? Hmmmm. At first I was thinking that I would have an altar with spiders on it, like the little jumping spider I wrote about a few days ago. But tonight I had a long conversation with my Grandma Josie and I think now that I'm going to go in a different direction.
We'll see.

This reminds me of my days in Zac, Zac Mexico, I really miss the Pan Shops..and the Mole, and so on and so on... The rose clay.. was fab..
Pan as in bread, pan, right? There's a little panaderia in my neighborhood! They make the most amazing cinnamon tostadas. Worth busting your diet for.
Mexico can be so fun! (With the exception of swine flu, of course.)
