It's Friday, Isn't It?
I bought some hemp twine today and strung up some of my paper beads on it and made those earrings. I can't decide if they're too hippie or not. I like them, but would I ever wear them?
I actually only make things that I would want to wear. Since I don't wear necklaces or bracelets, I don't make necklaces or bracelets. (I don't wear pins either, but I wish I were the kind of person who could wear pins, aesthetically speaking, so I do make pins.) I wear earrings; I make earrings.
That's pretty much the approach I take to creativity.
Tired Today
I couldn't sleep for ages last night and then overslept this morning, a strange combination that ensured that I woke up tired. It never got any better.
I used the time I was up late last night to work on Dave's birthday present, pictured here:
After I got up, I ate some breakfast, took a shower, and called my niece for a biology tutoring session. Her bio lab midterm wasn't great--a C--but she tried, and we talked about ways that she could study for lab practicals. Then we started an exhaustive study of photosynthesis, most of which I've forgotten. I am so rusty on photosynthesis that I actually had to expend some brain energy trying to keep up with her questions.
After three and a half hours of studying, we got off the phone and I went to Peppers, a nearby supermarket. This is what I bought: Almond-cluster cereal and Silk vanilla soymilk for my mom, refrigerated biscuits in a tube for dinner, and three zucchini.
I came home and made dinner.
After, I made dinner, I went to Wal-mart. This is what I bought: Betadine, 4-inch square gauze, three rolls of the wrong kind of gauze that will have to be returned tomorrow, hemp twine, two twenty-pound bags of ice, a pack of one-hundred of the wrong size of glue sticks, a lipstain that I saw advertised on TV by Drew Barrymore, a fifty-pack of colored foam sheets, a set of ten sheets of scrapbook paper.
I talked to Kelly First yesterday. Her mom apparently got a big kick out of my embroidery handiwork and Kelly wanted to tell me about it. That was a cool compliment. I talked to my niece today, then to Dave (who was home early because of the holiday), and I also talked to Judi this evening. Judi told me that a few days ago, a location scout for SNL knocked on her door and asked her if she'd be interested in renting out her house for a movie shoot. Apparently, houses can go for $5,000/day for movie shoots. Some houses even have their own agents, the location scout told Judi. However, Judi was not interested after hearing that all her stuff would have to be packed up.
(Sigh.)
I'm tired!
