Workable Tomorrow

Here's that lotus platter I was blathering on about yesterday. It's still, of course, very much in the greenware stage. You can see that it's still sitting in the slump mold I use to form the blank platters.

I lay in bed last night, talking with The Brain about what we should have done with this carving. I don't, for example, like the way the stem attaches to the leaf on the left. Nor do I like how flat the flower looks. I think it needs more dimension. There was, of course, nothing I could do about that today; the clay was too dry to work with. Instead, I started another lotus platter, square this time, carved it, then covered it up well enough that, if The Brain prompts me to make any changes, the clay will still be workable tomorrow.

Thanks, chica! It's so early in the process, though--so many chances to wreck it before it's done :D
