Greenhouses
The biology building at my uni has the most awesome run of greenhouses just inside the front door. See?
They're so awesome that they were used in a movie. (The movie failed miserably, but that doesn't make the greenhouses any less cool, does it?)
I took these photos in the display greenhouse which houses a hodgepodge of plants, tropical to desert. My favorite plant in there is a smart little cycad. (I neglected to get a picture, although I did pet it for a bit.) Cycads, as you know, are pretty rare now (though they were quite common in the Jurassic).
So, this is not a cycad:
This is a Burro's Tail (Sedum morganianum). I just wanted to show you that beyond this fluffy little fellow is a halo of lights. It's under those 1000-watt bulbs, in the teaching greenhouse, that my Petit Havana tobacco sprouts are unfurling their sleepy little cotyledons.
