Yes, I took that photo of myself using my cell phone and a mirror held behind the cell phone so I could see the screen. I think the effort of that made my smile all crooked. And, try as I might, I could not manage to get my hair in the shot. I'm wearing it in milkmaid braids (a style which I attempt and fail at quite often). There are, no joke, about twenty bobby- and hairpins in my 'do.
The light is quite good in that photo, I think.
I took this photo at the student-run salon where my aunt Char and I went to get cheapie mani/pedis on Wednesday. (Hey $5 for a mani and $7 for a pedi!)
The students were soooo young, most of them, and as I chatted with them while they worked on me, I felt that weird feeling of being too old and hoping like I'm not coming off like I'm trying to be hip. The "mutton acting like lamb" feeling. I hate that.
I got my finger- and toenails painted with a silver polish, but the young woman doing my manicure put the polish on too thick and it both bubbled up and wouldn't dry. It was still tacky about six hours later, so I took it off. I'm really more about bare fingernails anyway.
