Anyway, he and I get out for a walk very early in the morning, around 5:45 or so, when it's cool, and we go out again in the late afternoons when it's too hot to do much more than dash to the park, poop, and dash home again. I tell you, whoever decided to call them the dog days of summer neglected to check with any actual dogs. They do not like this weather, dogs. (But apparently, according the wikipedia, the dog days are named for their temporal relationship to the appearance of Sirius, the dog star, largest star in the Canis Major constellation. Who knew?)
As a result of temporarily relocating myself to a very large house with a very large dog and a very large selection of cable television offerings, I have done nothing--but nothing--of consequence in many days. Oh no, maybe I can count the shade covering that Dave and I rigged up over part of the garden to protect the tomato plants and herbs. That was something, right? (But no, that small achievement pales in comparison to the hours and hours of Millionaire Matchmaker and Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives that I've watched in the past couple of days.)

The last time I was in Canada I came down with a cold and I spent hours and hours watching Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives and some strange show about buying storage units and looking for expensive stuff in them. They are fun but sort of addictive too.
I would love to have the Food Channel here!
Hi Helen! I've spent too many hours watching both those shows. The host of DDD really grows on you after a while, no? He's like a fungus that way!
There are two food channels now: The Cooking Channel and Food Network. It's awesome!
I'm a Gordon Ramsey fan myself. Summertime is all about Master Chef!! We don't have cable so our offerings are kind of dumbed down, tv wise.
You're killin' me with that WPP stuff.. HA! word.
xo
You know, I never liked ol' Gordy until I saw him interact with children on one of his shows. I think he'd make an excellent kindergarten teacher actually!
I don't have cable at home--or even a TV--so I watch stuff on Netflix mostly. Haven't seen Master Chef, but I love Two Fat Ladies!
