O Face

Still life with snack foods. No joke. That was the composition I made up from the bags of potato chips and snack mixes that our drawing teacher brought to class for us to draw last week. I never thought I'd spend dozens of hours drawing potato chips and pretzels, but there it is.

Dave's drawing drew a lot of attention from the middle aged women in the class. One in particular loved the way he shaded the ridges on his chip. Nice, right?

At the studio, I've been making very large pots for the patio. Totally pedestrian things--or as pedestrian as I can make any thing. Dave and I also spent the weekend preparing for a show at the home studio of a friend of ours. Dave raku'd (with my assistance) a bunch of his ocarinas and two of my calavera vases. We also glazed a bunch of pieces for the electric kiln--then loaded the kiln.

We have lots of work to sell actually. But my stuff is mostly one off pieces from when I first started throwing. I don't know how it will go over, but what the hell. May as well stick on a price tag and see what happens, right?
