Thank You, Jebus!
I didn't post the night of the election so as to avoid gloating, but I'm very very very very glad that the election went the way it did.
The conspiracy theorist in me thinks of course, that the Republican fix was attempted in Ohio and Florida. Why else the strange computer programs being uploaded to voting machines in the weeks before the election? Why else the efforts to disenfranchise voters and "purge" the rolls and destroy voter registration forms? Why else Karl Rove's meltdown on Fox News about it's being too soon to call Ohio? Why else Romney waiting and waiting and waiting to concede?
The non-conspiracy theorist in me thinks of course that the Republican party--and all the Americans who voted for Romney--won't have learned anything from this. Next major election, they'll have doubled down on the crazy: speaking out against such "wrongs" as women's reproductive rights, equal pay for equal work, gay and lesbian rights, same sex marriage, "minority" voters, tax cuts for millionaires, the rights of corporations as citizens, and on and on and on. They'll react to this by becoming even more batshit conservative.
But welcome to the new America.

call me a polly-anna, but I think the batshit conservatives ARE the new minority... even though I'm in a red state, I say this. I believe in unicorns too.
from your lips to sarah palin's ears, chica! (did you know that she's the highest paid contributor to fox news? $1M/yr) ...sigh...
