21 3D STAR TRE

Not an exciting photo, no, but there it is, evidence that we were suckered into spending $10.25 each to see Star Trek Into Darkness 3D. I took that picture with my increasingly crappy cell phone camera (the lens is getting scratched up something fierce) as we were leaving the theater. We actually saw the 10:00 a.m. show along with perhaps 20 other people. (Poor Dave. He got home from a business trip late last night, took today off from work, and instead of getting to sleep in, got up early this morning to make it to an early show.)

To be fair, the 3D was not too annoying--definitely not at The Hobbit level of annoying--so I don't begrudge  anyone the extra $4.00 we spent to see it in 3D.

What I liked:

Zachary Quinto as Spock is really good.

The aliens at the beginning are interesting looking.

What I didn't like or what annoyed me:

The expectation that the Goatse-sized gaping plot holes would be swallowed whole. (Yeah, I know: Ew.)

Kahn being a white guy. (And I say that as a Benedict Cumberbatch fan.)

And, come to think of it, I was disappointed that the cities that the movie makes a point of being set in (or at least destroying) are so futuristically generic--as is the new Enterprise. I mean, that ship is the lynch-pin, no? And here it gets short shrift. Too bad.

I'm glad I saw it anyway. It's the first big summer blockbuster-ish movie that I've seen in a long time.

Hola Laurita! I would've thought that you'd be more of a "Fast and Furious 6" kind of girl!
