I thought this house was abandoned, but when I took this picture I noticed curtains in the windows that are not boarded up.
And then today, some guy was out mowing the yard around the house. There is no grass, obviously, but the weeds have grown as a result of the recent rainstorms and, no joke, some guy was out there this morning mowing with a lawnmower that looked like he pulled it out of a landfill.
This morning my mother drove for the first time since her surgery. So that's good. We went about ten miles out of town to a truck stop diner to have breakfast. It was not great (undercooked French toast and eggs that tasted oddly of coconut). Then we came back and stopped at Walmart. Of course. Because it's Saturday, and there's some kind of law I think.
