Serious People Only
This morning, while my mom was in her last PT session (yay!), I went into Peppers to buy some various things (chicken, short ribs, avocados, nectarines, etc.) and on the way out of the store, I stopped to look at the notices board.
I think we forget, in this online world we live in, that people still use paper and thumbtacks and magic markers to communicate with one another, with strangers really. Which seems saner? Or safer? (Bearing in mind that I blacked out the phone numbers in these photos.)
No, I'm not looking for a freezer or canning jars, but something about this handwriting reminded me of my grandmother's handwriting, when she got older and used a giant magnifying glass to look through as she wrote things very slowly so it would be legible.
It's my second-to-last night in Deming. My mother has graduated to a cane and soon should be walking without that. She's able to climb into and out of the car and drive around, and to care for the dogs. Tonight my Aunt Charlotte is driving down for a visit, and Dave will arrive tomorrow to drive me home on Sunday to see my cats and my garden. And in a couple of weeks he and I will take a quick jaunt via Amtrak up to Chicago (I've never been) to root around in the museums and eat a pizza or two.

How long is the ride? I took Amtrak once to DC from here (3.5 hr drive), took 7 hours in the train!!! never again. ugh, I am being a buzz-kill, I know! I hope Chicago is inspiring and fun for you!!! I wanna hear all about it. xo
