This Day, Friday
This happened yesterday afternoon:
Lots of rain.
Lots and lots of rain.
Busy day today.
My mom had PT in the morning, 9:00 a.m. While she was in with the physical therapist, I ran to my favorite place in the whole wide world:
The happiest place on earth!
I picked up some cheese and mustard that we needed for lunch and...what else? I forget.
There was still a bit of time before I had to pick up my mother, so I went through the McDonald's drive-thru to give them another chance to ruin a cup of coffee for me. (Spoiler: They didn't! The coffee, a small coffee with two creamers and two Sweet'n'Lows, was actually decent.)
There was a bus parked next to the drive-thru and this was painted on the side:
I wonder if they also run boat turs or other kinds of turs or if it's just bus turs?
After I got my coffee, I went back to pick up my mother. We were having company for lunch, my mother's friend Katie and Katie's two kids Hailey and John. Today is John's birthday; he's 14. (I don't come into contact with many 14-year-old boys, thankfully, although he's relatively polite, as is his 11-year-old sister.)
Lunch was burgers with all the fixings, potato and tortilla chips, sour and onion dip, chile con queso, watermelon, and hot fudge sundaes for those who wanted them. After lunch, my mom and I gave John a card with a $20 tucked inside and I gave Hailey an "un-birthday" present, a small Monsters, Inc. Pez dispenser and some Pez.
After lunch we sat and chatted for a couple of hours. The kids are very gregarious and it cracks me up the dynamic between the two of them, the little sister willing to sell out her brother's secrets in exchange for a little attention. (Very useful to the parents, I imagine.) Before they left, I fixed a plate-- a burger and some queso--for Katie to take home to her husband.
When they had gone, I mopped the kitchen, dining, and living room floors (I rarely cook meat at home, and never burgers, and it freaks me out a little bit how much aerosolized grease settles all over everything, including the floor). While the floor was drying, I made a run to Sonic for some giant, icy drinks. I went through the Sonic drive-thru of course and waited in line behind this guy:
Poor cows.
I'm back now, in front of the TV set watching Seinfeld, drinking my giant, icy diet Sprite, waiting for Dave to arrive for a weekend visit.
Lots of rain.
