Back to School

Yesterday Dave and I did a little shopping. Our first trip was to Target where we bought a few back to school supplies.

This pile of crayons, highlighters, pencils, pens, binders, paper, glue sticks, spiral notebooks, pencil cases, colored pencils, pencil cases, rulers, etc., etc., are not for us, of course. It's all to be sent to a group that fills donated backpacks with school supplies to give to underprivileged children. We've donated for a couple of years now; I find it fun to shop for school supplies--though diving into the scrum of parents and their ankle-biters in the back-to-school section at Target during the tax-free weekend was less fun. Sometimes, like those times, I'm glad to have skipped out on the reproductive game.

Last night?

Well, last night Dave and I had dinner with my older brother, Rudy. We went to a relatively new Indian restaurant called OM. We had lamb tikka masala, palak paneer, chole amritsari, puri, and olive oil-rosemary naan. YUM! After, we went to Flying Star for dessert. I had a sugar cookie and a decaf latte. Dave had a slice of pineapple right-side-up cake, and Rudy had strawberry cake. YUM!

Tonight?

Well, tonight Dave and I had dinner with Chris and Lu Ann at a relatively new Thai restaurant called Tara Thai. We had spring rolls to start and Dave and I shared an order of tom kha tofu and pad kee mao with tofu (which was yummy--far better than the tom kha). Chris and Lu Ann shared pad kee mao and a mango salad.  The restaurant itself is really gorgeous, much nicer than it needs to be even--and the place definitely should be busier. We saw several to-go orders being picked up, but there were only two tables of four in the place, including us.

And the other excitement today was this:

I woke up this morning with my left eyelid swollen nearly shut. Why? Who knows? I spent a few hours in the urgent care center to find out that it was an allergic reaction. (Yes, I paid for that diagnosis.) The NP gave me a 'scrip for a steroid (just in case) but suggested that I take zyrtek during the day and benadryl at night. So here I am, stupid with benadryl.

Ugh.
