Raku U.

For once I'm not going to lead off with the calavera. Instead, here is a trio of little (as in three to four inches tall) paper clay masks that we raku'd yesterday.

I went a little mask crazy, partly to finish off a bag of paper clay that had been moldering in my cubicle for awhile and partly because it has been awhile since I tried to make masks.

I'm not sure yet how to feel about them. I mean, these are fresh fresh fresh out of the kiln; when I took these pics, I was still blowing the ashes off them and scrubbing off the reduction-based gunk.

This guy I kinda like--but I like primitive looking things.

Look at that crazy glaze.

And of course, the calavera.

She is much better looking in person.

(Aren't we all?)
