He's such a cutie.
The sun was coming up when we left and it got lighter and lighter as we got to the park. The sprinklers had been on all night in the freezing cold and the grass was frozen, as were the trees that the sprinklers could reach.
It was cold out, obviously, and I wore my jacket over my hoodie. We did a quick turn around the park and came home. I gave Crunch his breakfast and then went out to the studio to check the kiln. The ventilation is not great out there, so the studio smelled like it does when you fire off a kiln in a poorly ventilated area. The kiln was only up to about 520 degrees. I checked it and got the hell out of there. I debated leaving the studio door open, but I hate to do that when I'm here alone, so I'll wait until Dave gets here in a few hours to air the place out.

Dave got here around 9:00, bring breakfast burritos and coffee. Yum! We went out, checked the kiln, and sat in the studio eating our breakfast. When that was done, I did a bit of work on my pieces, adding a bit more underglaze to one, building up the chest and back of the other. The new piece is already about 17-18 inches tall and my kiln is only 23 inches, so the head is going to have to be built separately and either epoxied on or just built in such a way that it can remain two pieces.
After doing a bit of work, I was so exhausted (I'm still not sleeping), that I came inside and went to take a nap upstairs. I was just starting to think about drifting off when someone rang the doorbell and set Crunch to barking his head off. They were pretty insistent about the doorbell, and by the time I got downstairs, Dave had answered the door. But that put the kibosh on my nap.
The kiln is coming along, though. I'm babysitting it while Dave went out to pick up some Indian takeout for lunch. I think I may try for another nap after we eat.
