Kinda Boring Weekly Update
It's been over a week since I updated. Most of that time I was sick. I did get up and show up to a few things, but most of that time I was in bed either sleeping or wishing my cough would let me sleep. I actually was feeling good enough to go to class on Thursday and to dinner on Friday with Chris and LuAnn, though both outings only lasted a few hours and I was wiped out by the end of each.
Anyway, it's Sunday morning now. I'm feeling better and my cough is better. It doesn't hurt in my chest now, thankfully, but there's still a lot happening in my lungs.
Besides class and dinner, I got one other thing done from the relative luxury of my own bed. I procured tickets to a Flight of the Conchords show in Minneapolis in June. (I picked Minneapolis instead of one of the other cities they're playing in because David is familiar with Minneapolis. My next choice would have been San Francisco.) I won't go into the absolute aggravation of trying to deal with Ticketmaster, but I will say that the tickets went on sale Friday morning on their site for $40-$60, sold out in seconds to scalpers with bots, and I ultimately ended up buying from an online "reseller" and paying close to a 300% markup. Frustrating. But I did get the tickets (we'll see if they're legit) and I think my blood pressure is mostly normal again. Now I have to plan the trip to Minneapolis. We might even take an extra day or two and hit some of the museums we passed up last time we were there.
It's probably going to be a lazy Sunday. I'm still in bed watching MASH reruns on Netflix. I really like the early seasons. I think they're more biting and funnier with less of the extreme pathos that characterized the later seasons. When I was a kid, MASH was on just before the 5:30 news and I always used to sit and eat dinner in front of the TV while I watched it. (We used to have dinner early because of my father's schedule.) I've probably seen every episode at least a dozen times. I honestly think that MASH probably shaped about 80% of my adult sense of humor.
Anyway, that's been my week.
