So Close
The Weekend:
Dave is home (as of last Friday night) from Las Vegas, Nevada, where he went last week for a conference of some sort. He came home with milk chocolate from Robuchon, a Smashbox Be Legendary lipstick in the shade "Infrared Matte," Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour blush in the shade "Dazzled," and a cold. All but the last thing were for me--though I may end up getting that last one anyway.
I've got woes of my own, though: I've got final exams coming up and a backache from hell that's meant misery if I sit for hours and misery if I lie down for hours. It's bad enough that I've begun to wonder if it's not kidney-related rather than just stress or muscle-related. Still, I don't have any other symptoms that would suggest kidney issues, so I'm going with the simpler explanation.
Along with the bad backache, I'm not sleeping. Like, it's six minutes to three in the morning as I write this, and I am wide awake. That's the last week or so. I've been passing the time watching Netflix (Baby Boss, a too-cute animated film with Alec Baldwin as the voice of the main character, and a series "Cuckoo" with a British comedian I like named Greg Davies and a comedian who I despise, Andy Samberg) and reading books (The Great Brain series by John D. Fitzgerald) that I first read as a seven-year-old. That's been interesting.
Tuesday, One Down:
I just got back from my first of two final exams. (Clinicals were over two weeks ago, and final grades were in a couple of days after, so at least I don't have to worry about that right now.) I walked in needing a 34% on the final exam to pass the class. I'm pretty sure I did at least that.
Tomorrow is the tough one: I need a 38% on the exam to pass the class. There are people in class who can fail tomorrow's exam with 0% and still pass the class. Nothing is rounded up or down, that's just the way things fall out. (In more stringent programs, each exam has to be passed with a 77% or better, but in this program, only our overall grade has to average out to 77% or better.)
I'm not sleeping well--was up all night--and I still have to do *some* studying for tomorrow's exam, if only for my own peace of mind. So I'm going to take a nap and then open the books for a few hours.
I'm tired and ready to be done for this term.
