Twenty (#20)

It was another night with another 5 hours worth of sleep.

I got up, fed the pups, made a coffee, and sat down to sew. I made two pot holders to give away. I finished a second quilted pillow, using "liberated" half log cabin blocks that I made a few days ago in shades of green. I bordered it with a purple print, quilted it, hand-tied it, then added a back to turn it into an envelope pillow. (We stuffed it with another blanket.)

After awhile, I tried for a nap and failed, so I got up and took a shower instead. Dave came by and we decided to run some errands. (Mostly that was a quick trip to Target--where I bought today's lipstick: Essence Long Lasting Lipstick in the shade "Go Natural.")

When we got home, I sat down and worked on a new quilt block. My brain has been turning over new quilt ideas for days. A lot of the blocks out there are traditional, but whose traditions are they? I thought it might be interesting to try to figure out some blocks that represent my culture and my traditions, so I worked out an "ojo de dios" block. I had time to cut the pieces and sew one block using my new fabric before Dave and I had to run off to dinner.

We had dinner with a couple of friends who we only see very rarely. We went to a vegetarian restaurant and I had "chicken" and waffles which turned out to be two small waffles and a slice of fried cauliflower. It was decent but lacked protein. Of course I had to have their strawberry ice cream for dessert. (I love strawberry ice cream.)

We sat over dinner for a couple of hours and by the time we got home I was wiped out. So I only did a little bit of sewing. Then I reorganized everything and started to put away my sewing things. I've had everything spread out as I've been working in the dining room where I'm pup-sitting, but tomorrow I pack up and return to our little casita. From now on I will have to work one project at a time instead of working on a half-dozen things at once since my space to spread out is limited.

I'm in bed now. It's midnight. I'm not wide awake, but I don't feel like I could fall asleep easily either. And I need to get up and brush my teeth.

Sigh.
