Gone Protesting

 I care about what happens to this country. I care about women's reproductive rights. I care about brown and black people. I care about the Dreamers. I care about the rights of the working class.

I care about healthcare. I care about science. I care about climate change.

I have experienced sexual assault. I have experienced sexual harassment. I have experienced domestic violence. I have experienced racism. I have been paid less than men for the same work. I have been paid less than white women for the same work.

I am an intersectional feminist. I trust women. I believe women. There is a war on women in this country and I believe that women should do what they need to do to survive.

I voted for Hillary Clinton and I would proudly vote again for Hillary Clinton or for any Democratic woman who ran for president.

I want girls--all children--to grow up in a safe, loving environment, without fear of being molested, without fear of being abused. I want for them what I didn't have.

Donald Trump was sued in court for raping and threatening a thirteen-year-old girl. He beat and raped his first wife. He tried to talk his second wife into aborting their daughter. He is accused by 19 women of sexual assault. He cheated on his wife, who had just given birth, with a porn actress and then paid her for her silence. These are facts. This is the man who Christians stand by. He should not be leading our nation. Nor should any elected official who stands by him, who has covered up for him, who votes with him, who stands by silent while he denigrates our nation and breaks our government so that he can enrich himself and his cronies without reprisal, without consequence.

So we march.
 We speak out.
We stop hiding our truths.
We stop believing their lies.
 
And we vote.
