Therapy

Monday

Sigh.

So I'm going to occupational health tomorrow to get my elbow (and wrist and shoulder looked at).  Five weeks into the new job and I'm already wounded. Hopefully it will resolve and be completely fine--and it has gotten a lot better since it happened on Friday--but the older I get, the less often that kind of thing seems to happen. So we'll see. In the meantime, I'm using CBD cream on it (the stuff from Shikai, a national brand that you can buy at Whole Foods, so it's derived from hemp and has no THC in it, so I won't end up failing a drug test), and using my TENS unit on my shoulder. I had been icing it, but I've stopped that for now. I suspect that heat might actually be better as warm showers seem to help a little bit.

Today I slept in for a long time. I don't know if it's just the long, sleepless weeks catching up to me, or if I've got some kind of virus, or if my sleep schedule is just doing that silly thing where it flips itself around from time to time, but I did sleep. At the end of the week, I've got two night shifts (Thursday and Friday from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.) so I'll take all the sleep I can get in the meantime.

We had all our meals at home today, which is good, since we took Judi to dinner yesterday. (We went for salty, salty Chinese food, of course, so I've been chugging water and eating lots of potassium-rich foods to try to balance everything out.) Before we went to dinner, we went to visit Paul in the assisted living place where he is now. There is where we met up with Judi and a couple of Paul's friends, too. (We run into them on Sundays when we go to visit, as they are in their 90's and that is their day to be out and about.) We had a pleasant visit, although Paul was getting a little tired by the time we all left.

We stopped on the way up to Judi's. I meant to have a snack, as I hadn't had lunch and we weren't planning on dinner for a few hours, but Dave suggested stopping for banh-mi. He had a tofu banh-mi and I had tofu spring rolls. We also stopped on the way for drinks--just iced water, really, but giant ones from where we usually get our giant fizzy drinks.

After dinner, we had to go for groceries, and we ended upgoing to three different stores: Whole Foods, the Co-op, and Sprouts. (I take a lot of (generally healthy) snacks to work to nibble on and each place has different choices.) By the time we got home, both Dave and I were ready to just get in our pajamas and go back to bed.

Tuesday

I'd rather not be on my way to occupational health today. (My appointment isn't until 2:30 this afternoon, of course, so I get to spend my whole day off stressing about this.) But I know it's better just to go and get everything checked out.

I slept away most of yesterday.

Later:  Everything's healing fine.  I have a few restrictions but will likely be cleared after my follow up appointment next week.

I came home, got into my pajamas before remembering that I have therapy tonight at 5:00. I texted my therapist to arrange a facetime meeting so that I can stay in my pajamas and out of this 93 degree heat.
