Too Many

Yesterday the mail brought five packages of 10-inch squares, a new ironing board cover, some glass-headed pins, and a 72"x72" "quilt wall." I've been quilting the black and brown blocks--I had been waiting for the arrival of some black batting and it came a few days ago along with some new fabric--and trying to think of ways to quilt the prarie flower blocks I sewed last week. I've also got some ideas for the Sunbonnet Sue blocks I started a year ago but which got put in a drawer when we moved.

I've been watching a lot of stuff online. I watched two seasons of She's Gotta Have It, the Spike Lee limited series. Now I'm watching the movie the series is based on. I watched a couple of disturbing documentaries: one about Anna Nicole Smith (You Don't Know Me) who was a kind of white trash Icarus and one about teenaged girls (Hot Girls Wanted) who work in amateur porn. I also watched an amazing series about film/movies on Netflix called Voir, one episode of which (about Jaws) got me stuck on the INXS song Don't Change. (It's a good song and there's an amazing live version of it by Bruce Springsteen on his youtube channel.)

Yesterday I saw a periodontist. He was young and relatively inexperienced. I'm going to speak to someone else before I decide to go ahead with treatment.

Today, Saturday, I slept in (after not really sleeping last night) while Dave went out with my brother to pick up our grocery order. I was up by the time he got home, so after putting away groceries, I made lunch and we sat and watched an episode of Voir while we ate. Soon after, Dave went off to visit his mother, taking the dog with him and I sat down at my sewing machine again.

I'm not quite halfway done quilting the black and brown blocks. The black batting (Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 black) is great but slightly itchier than the batting I usually use (The Warm Company Warm & Natural). I cut the batting up into squares just larger than the blocks and then back them with squares of various shades of solid blue fabrics. I'm a little worried I'm going to run short of solid blue fabrics. I've cut up two and a half yards of it so far, but I think I'm going to need another four or five yards, not including the sashing and binding that I'm going to use.

I just realized I don't know what color binding I'm going to use. Too many decisions!
