I'm not sleeping much, which is difficult. It makes me feel fractured and incoherent.
At night when I can't sleep, I watch things online. (When I was a kid, I used to stay up all night watching old black and white movies that played on one of the channels throughout the night, a strange kind of substitute for dreaming.) I watched bits of Lost in Translation, a movie that, despite having seen numerous times, I still can't decide if I like or not. I watched Poms, about a group of elderly women living in a "adult community" who take up cheerleading. It's a terrible movie, but fun enough. And Rhea Perlman is in it. I've liked her since Cheers.
What else has been going on?
Friday's Zoom coffee went really well. We chatted with Glenn and Kathleen for three hours, only breaking off the call because it was dinnertime for the animals and us. I'm so unused to socializing anymore that I'm out of practice.
Yesterday, we moved the big, heavy, ugly glass table that was sitting outside my sewing area window. Finally. It only took a year. Dave moved our smaller table into it's place. It's much nicer. The patio needs a lot of work, but now I have some flowers and a birdbath and bird feeders and a table for us to sit at and it's getting there.
We also went to see Judi and Buzz yesterday. I went into the studio briefly, but did not bring home any work. Dave picked all the peaches off Judi's three little peach trees. Judi fell and tore the skin on her arm. She did not want me to look at it.
We bought a projector to use to screen movies (now all we need is a screen but for now we're using the wall) from Amazon for $50. It's not bad for $50. So far, we've only used it to watch youtube videos about food and travel.
It was cooler today but the predicted rain did not materialize. I want rain. I want a lot of rain, a deluge of rain.
This morning, a hawk brought its prey--a dove maybe or a quail--to the top of the patio wall. We still have a ton of dragonflies around and hummingbirds and baby lizards. So many baby lizards with little blue tails. So far today, without leaving the house and only glancing out the windows, I've seen the hawk, hummingbirds, dragonflies, bees, a roadrunner, and baby lizards. And a fly. An annoying little fly that somehow got into the house.
For dinner, I made a chopped salad (cucumber, red onion, radishes, red pepper, red cabbage, carrots, garbanzo beans, feta, tomato, avocado, sunflower and pumpkin seeds, low-fat ranch dressing made from ranch seasoning, nonfat yogurt, plain kefir). I'm hungry. I read a tweet recently: People need to understand that when I say "I'm hungry," it means that I'm 27 minutes from becoming a different person.
