An Exhausting Day!
Dave and I were in Asakusa this morning to see the Sensoji Temple and incidentally to catch part of some festival, complete with dancers. We wandered around, got our fortunes (both bad), got rid of our fortunes by tying them to the racks nearby the fortune booths, and bought and lit incense, bought and drank ramune. Afterwards, we wandered over the Ueno where we looked at the Shinobazu pond and Ameyokucho market and had lunch in a tiny soba shop in Ueno. We sat in a Pronto coffeeshop and had a coffee and chatted for a while, then we went to shopping at Muji in Ueno for a towel and some snacks. David started to look a little frayed around the edges and I was reminded of my earliest days in Tokyo, when I too could only take about four or five hour slices of the city that is my home. That is, because I've been in Tokyo for a half a year, I forget how overwhelming Tokyo can be sometimes. I forget that four or five hours in the wilds of Tokyo can be exhausting.
So now we're back in Higashi-Mukojima, just having a bit of a rest. We may go out later and wander our city some more, but for the moment, I think it's nice to sit around and eat some banana choco and chat.
Ah, and I haven't been writing enough, have I?
But I will soon!
My love to all.
