You're A Nice Lady. What's Your Name?

It's early and The Brain? Not working.

Dave has been running around Tokyo doing all the things that I should be doing--if I didn't have to work, that is. But honto, he's seen about fifty times more of my home city than I have--which I think is great.

Last night we went out drinking with a mixed group, two students and a bunch of teachers from a nearby Kaisha. I'm somewhat annoyed by other teachers, including one who's been here three years and who still starts statements with the word "They..." as when he's speaking of the Japanese. I'm always like, They? Why not try "We"? Anyway, I made a point of making a joke along the lines of "Some of my best friends are foreigners." And that's a hard explanation joke-wise, but I will say that I habitually think of myself and other Westerners as foreigners and I did have one student tell me of her visit to Hawaii that "All the foreigners tried to speak English to me."

Wait.

What was I saying?

Oh, yeah, it must have been something about not sleeping at all for the last six days...

Ahhh.

It's off to Tsukiji this afternoon to meet a student for lunch, then to dinner and to meet another student for dinner.

Confidential to Saru: Yes, the X Files! That's perfect. Where are you when I'm typing the titles of these entries into my computer? Honto, I think sometimes the need to keep secrets in this town is both useless and incredibly crucial. I'm not entirely sure I like that combination--but maybe it's just the unfamiliarity of it that rubs me the wrong way.

It's early!

usually i am SLEEPING when you need a title!

funny about the teacher who always says "they"...after three years, you would hope for some integration into the local scene.
