Newbie Lunch

Dave and I had lunch yesterday with The Newbie and her mama and Grandma T. The Newbie travels like a little rock star with her little entourage and about three pieces of luggage filled with diapers and clothes and toys, all just to go to a cafe to drink a bottle of formula.
The Newbie has a few new facial expressions, including this one, where she sucks on her own lower lip. She also is going to be a thumb-sucker, I'm afraid, as she already positions her thumbs into little tatas and tries to put them both at the same time into her mouth. I never sucked my thumb, so I always felt more than a bit of pity for thumb-sucking kids. (I feel the same kind of pity for those poor kids whose mothers breast feed them until the kid is walking and talking and finishing up that thesis for a doctoral degree. It's, like, wean the damn thing already. You're tits aren't going to get any perkier that way, lady.)
Let's see, what other little baby miracles does The Newbie perform? Oh, yes, she can fall asleep anywhere and she rolls her eyes around and goes a bit cross-eyed before she finally drops off to sleep. She also miraculously stayed quiet and relatively attentive while I showed her a selection of baby books at the bookstore while her mama shopped for books about the GED. (The Newbie decided on a book showing other babies' faces making various expressions, one about getting ready to go to bed, and a book with soft fabric pages that has little animals making sounds. The mama settled on a study guide and a horror novel about a murdered girl. I was just happy to drink my Americano and introduce The Newbie to Eric Carle and Margaret Wise Brown.)
But the best baby miracle is that The Newbie is actually not fussy at all, something that I attribute to her mother, who says, when she does get fussy, "Oh si ? Faker."
