That's the definition of optimism in the form of a raft, some poor fool's entry into the 2008 Rio Grande Raft Race. The gray and blue parts on the bottom are actually empty 16-ounce water bottles duct taped together. And look, he even made the paddles (which looked like they were held together with unfolded paper clips). I think he did make it into the water, but it rode pretty low in the water. Still, you've got to give the guy (and it was a guy, because we saw him nearby) credit for the sheer home-made-ness of it all.
