Jacked

I woke up this morning with a raw, scratchy throat that by early evening had spread so that I felt all-over dry and feverish--except for, oddly, my nose. One of my sinuses is all clogged up with gunk--but the other sinusl is all free and clear. Strange. Of course, the sinus that's all clogged up with gunk is the one on the side where my dental implant is, the one that looks like this:
That's the tooth under my sinus. Wait. No, it's not. Let me try again: That's where there used to be a tooth, a molar, under my sinus. That's where the dentist drilled into my head, stuck a metal rod into the hole--into my maxilla, I think--and then hammered away at the metal rod until the bone that comprises the floor of my sinus cavity gave way, forcing the bone up a few millimeters so that a metal screw could be drilled in. Hooray for dental surgery!
So, where that happened? That's where the nostril is all jacked up today.
Yes, I feel crappy. And I love being sick normally, but I don't really like sore throats because they're itchy and painful and gross and I hate the taste of anything that will numb that itchy, painful grossness.
Now I'm just complaining.
But I did like that jack-o'-lantern.
