A Few Random Photos

It's been awhile since I put a photo up in here. I just haven't been feelin' photo-y lately and the last time I went to take a photo (at the two-year-old spawn's birthday party), my camera battery was DOA, dead. The photo would've been pretty sweet, too; Since the birthday boy slept through our visit, the only thing I thought to take a picture of was one of those creepy toy monkeys from the '70's that had the hairy body and the hard plastic face. You remember. He was sometimes called "Zippy the Monkey." (Warning: Click that link under penalty of nightmares.) Creepy monkey toy belonged to my friend whose spawn was the guest of honor and the mother of said friend has had those toys around since said friend was a tot. She drug them out of storage for the party, probably thinking that everyone would find them cute, but we found them creepy--and useful as ammunition to mock my friend.

So that story? In no way is meant to introduce the photo that I took today:

ernest

What's that? That is a little Ernest Hemingway head next to a little Ernest Hemingway body. I use that to hold one of my many gum torturing implements. See?

brushes

You can see just how little Ernest is compared to my floss (which he's hiding behind) or my contact lens case. (That is only a fraction of my gum torturing collection, by the way. There you can only see two kinds of floss, one of my three toothbrushes, and three gum-specialized brushes. Between us, Dave and I have five non-specialized toothbrushes, at least six kinds of floss, two kinds of mouthwash, and--this is not a joke--at least thirty kinds of toothpaste. I only use one kind of toothpaste, but Dave is kind of a toothpaste junkie.)

Anyway, here's Frida Kahlo. She's the same size as Ernest:

frida

She's sitting on the bookshelf next to my coloring books and crayons. (What? I love to color.) Her head is removable, too. If you look down into the body, there's a little banner that reads, "Viva La Vida." (Ernest has a tiny cigar in his body, which I find strange. I'd expect a cigar for, say, Groucho Marx. But for Ernest? Why not a handgun?)

I probably should explain that Ernest and Frida were gifts from my brother (who also gave us a tiny Charles Darwin that I put on my altar). I'll show you Charles another time.

Can I interest you in a coffee cup?

mugs

Those are all handmade mugs. David made all of those except one, the one with the handle in the center. That one was made by a friend named Diane. That is only a fraction of the number of coffee cups we have, all made by Dave. I'll show you some others sometime.

CAWFEE?

I had coffee today with Judi and Kelly First. Kelly and I stopped by Judi's to see her new kitchen, which is a beautiful kitchen for someone who never, ever cooks. Seriously. Judi cooks about three times a year (she doesn't believe that adults should cook for each other so Paul has to fend for himself mealwise) and now she has a new $30,000+ kitchen to do it--or not do it--in. But it is a beautiful kitchen.

After the kitchen viewing, we went out for coffee and a late breakfast. It's fun to chat with Kelly and Judi. When I grow up, I want to be them. Both of them. But without the kitchen.

Oh, and my dog Crunch is getting F-A-T. He's ONE HUNDRED AND FOUR POUNDS now, which makes him about fifteen pounds overweight. He's gonna be getting some more exercise soon, poor pup.

I like the little Ernest and Frida. Comparing Ernest to the floss was helpful because it helped me figure out, how small he is. Ha ha ha. : ) I think those were cool gifts.

Crunch is 104 pounds? In his defense, he's not fat, he's just fluffy! Wink wink! Ha ha ha.

That's cool Dave made those cups, I really wish we had a place like that, near where I live. I should have found a place like that in Denver the last time, I would like the boy's to make some plates and put their hand prints on them and sign them and say how old they are, sorta as keepsakes.

What are you doing this weekend? As for us, we are just staying home as usual. Resting, being lazy bums. :D

Heya, Gina!

My poor dog is both fluffy and fat! Double trouble for sure!! He's so sweet though, it's hard to stop feeding him treats.

Oh! That would be so cool to have the boys do some pottery. I found a couple of places in Tokyo while I was there, but--whew!-it was so *expensive*! Like 30,000yen a month or something. Ouch.

This weekend is more gym time, of course! With my niece. And that's about it. Being a lazy bum, too--and netflixing some movies probably! Enjoy your weekend!!
