What Kind Of Day?
It was a day.
Dave and I were rear ended this morning by some woman in a huge truck. Our bumper was smashed and now we have the pleasure of dealing with insurance companies. (They're so pleasant, aren't they, when you're buying something from them? But the minute they have to pay out, all of that pleasantness goes out the window, doesn't it?) Anyway, Dave was inclined to be more forgiving than I of the woman who hit us. When I said, "She was probably on her cell phone." He said, "I don't think so. She was probably more upset about it than we were. She was freaked out because she was driving her husband's truck and she said she was trying to be careful." And I was, like, she ran her fucking truck into us, so, you know, I can only cut her so much slack. It's not like she ran oh-so-carefully into us, either. Our bumper is pretty smashed up. But, yeah, she must breathe out some kind of magical poor-me dust because Dave was, all, poor thing, her bumper was banged up, too. (I might have been tempted to throw an Ugh and a dumb bitch her way, too, but I didn't because that would have made me the unsympathetic and unpopular one in the conversation.)
So that was how the day started.
Just recounting the rest of it is too laborious. I just feel old and cynical when I think about it.
Dave and I did get to have dinner with my older brother, The Newbie, and The Newbie's little entourage (her mother and father). It was in early honor of my brother's birthday, which is Thursday (though he doesn't have the night off from work, so we just went ahead and had dinner tonight). We went for Chinese food at a restaurant that we've frequented since the other Chinese restaurant we used to go to was closed down by the health department. Yum yum. So at least there was that.

Ah.. the bitch should pay... she ran into you, you should get a free rental and get your car fixed pronto!
From your lips to God's ears, Girl Japan! I swear, we're already dreading dealing with her insurance company since the rep already told us that OUR insurance will have to cover the rental car. WTF?!
Eh?? That does not sound right! ERR...
Yeah, I know! Of course that was HER insurance company--and I was, like, I DON'T THINK SO!
