"...my thoughts go out to you, my Immortal Beloved, now and then joyfully, then sadly, waiting to learn whether or not fate will hear us - I can live only wholly with you or not at all --" --Ludwig van BeethovenYou know that saying The most important things in life aren't things? I try very hard to keep that saying in my heart. I'm not a shopper and I'm not a collector. (My biggest addiction used to be books, of course, and thankfully I'm mostly over that.) Despite that, I still have some things that are very important to me, things that I don't want to live without. My computer, for example, is important, as is my electric toothbrush and my iPod. I could live without those things, yes, but I wouldn't really want to. Here's something, though, that outranks all those things:
Yes, those are my beloved, beat-to-hell, 8-eye Dr. Marten boots. (That crappy cell phone photo doesn't do them justice. They really are beautiful!)
I love those boots.
Those boots have been halfway around the world with me and, yes, they look like it. The leather is scuffed and scraped and the laces are frayed at the edges. They're in terrible need of a resoling (which can only be done if I send them to the people who make Dr. Martens) but I'm loathe to be parted from them for the few weeks that a resoling might take. I've had them for about seven years and I wear them about 90% of the time I need to wear shoes. The rest of the time I wear my gym shoes or some fake-croc things around the house.
Today however, I bought these:
Aren't they hideous? (The crappy cell phone photo does, in fact, do these justice.) Yes, those are pink and gray circles on the top. I've never owned pink shoes. I bought them because I needed some cheapie run-about shoes for those times when I just need to get out the door and I don't feel like putting on socks and lacing up my boots.
That's it today. Shoes.
Yawn!

I love your new shoes. Those are really popular right now aren't they. The slip on shoes like that. Sorta remind me of Vans, but the ones now days are cuter.
And one of my boyfriends of the past used to always wear docs. Ha ha ha.
Happy Easter.
No joke...Vans! Skater Boy shoes for sure. Sketchers are the new Vans, but I'm happy with my cheapies!
Stay away from boys who wear Docs! Seriously! They're trouble ;)
Happy Easter!
