Six Words Is Six Words Too Many
Six-Word Memoirs
How's your life going? Can you tell me in six words? Rachel Fershleiser and Larry Smith think you can. They edited a book called Not Quite What I Was Planning: Six-Word Memoirs by Writers Famous and Obscure.
The original idea was drawn from a famous story about Hemingway. Asked to write a story in six words, he wrote: "For sale: baby shoes, never worn."
Asked to write the story of their lives in six words,
Joyce Carol Oates wrote: "Revenge is living well, without you."
Stephen Colbert wrote: "Well, I thought it was funny."
A woman named Lo wrote: "Have I done enough? Probably not."
I wrote: "Is that all there is, remembering?"
Here's a video promoting the book, yes, but with a bunch more of these six-word memoirs.
