Well, there it is. Those frames on top are not quite finished, of course, and the altar needs a light source (I have some string lights and I'm going to add some candles), and I think I'm going to break out the hot glue gun to keep everything together because the wind we've been having recently would be happy to blow away all my little offerings, no?
Here's another Calaverita that I painted last night and today.
I don't like it. I kind of like the colors, but I don't like the proportions. Oh, I don't know exactly what I don't like about it. I just kinda don't like it. Painting it, I thought, look how much work I'm putting into something I already know I'm not going to like.
There's a lesson in there somewhere, I'm sure.
And the journal pages now include a brain.
Not The Brain, of course. And I have to tell you, brains are difficult to paint. But the lesson of it was that whereas I too often want things to be black and white, The Brain is perfectly capable of handling gray (matter). Get it? Gray matter?
Well, The Brain gets it.
That was yesterday's painting. Today's painting is this hand, my hand, with bones.
I like this one. I wish I had some pastels to blend out those colors. But I still like it.
And this? This is our first strawberry!
It's about the size of a small marble. So don't get a hankering for any homemade strawberry shortcake or anything.
