Blank Slate
This is an example of what I sit down to when I sit down to carve. This is a slump molded plate, a simple slab of red clay pressed into a plate mold. That part of it is very, very simple. Ridiculously simple. As simple as I can make it. The plate part is not the part that interests me. The carving part interests me.
Those are my carving tools. Some of them I bought yesterday. Some of them I've had for seven or more years. I keep them in this rinky-dink plastic box. It's enough.
What did that blank plate become? There's a photo of the finished plate at my oft-neglected arts and crafts blog, Rosa Craft.
