A Specific Kind of Patience
When I was in New York, I bought this $20 pair of pottery earrings from a street vendor in Chelsea. I am all for supporting other artists, even when I am perfectly capable of making what they're selling.
I took this picture of my work space this evening. I don't know how much detail you can make out in all that chaos--I work best in a chaotic environment, so long as I am the source of the chaos--but somewhere in there are beads and earrings that I'm in the process of glazing.
Here's a closer view of a few of the earrings I made. Those are not beads on wires, the wire is actually embedded in the clay. Later, after these are glazed and high-fired, I'll cut off most of the wire and attach earring hooks.
It's the first time I've tried to make beads or earrings out of clay and I have to say, it definitely requires a lot of a specific kind of patience to work with such small things.
This Creeps Me Out
Someone used these search words to find my blog yesterday:
rosa a person with brain dead who ought not to be used as a mean to others
This creeps me out more than a little.
