Today is my Aunt Charlotte's birthday and of course I had to put up one of her school pictures. Look at that hairdo. That is a Grandma Josie special hairdo. (I got one, too, in the first or second grade. It was always fun going to school with one of those.)
Here is a school picture from one of the years when Char didn't get the full on bouffant 'do.
So it's time to dust off my throwing skills (what little I have) and throw some bowls for charity.
I'm not very good at throwing (which is why I don't do it), but I managed to fill a ware board at least.
Thirteen of those bowls are my work. (Of the others, three are from David and one is from another participant.)
Empty Bowls is part of Project Share, a charity that helps to feed homeless people. Here's a link to the website that tells about how potters can donate work. Here's a link to the website about the event where the bowls are used.
If you're in town, go!
Oh, All Right
And just to make things completely fair and square, here is my school pic, complete with my own Grandma Josie powered bouffant hairdo, right down to the little barrette at the side. (See, Char's got one too!)
I will say this: Those hairdos--both Char's and mine--are really a testament to my Grandma's skill with curlers and hairspray and willpower because neither Char nor I have the kind of hair that does this kind of thing easily. (We both have absolutely stick straight, curl defying hair.) I had to sleep in those damn curlers to get this look and I remember going to school feeling like I was wearing a light helmet, reinforced with hairspray. But truthfully, it was kind of awesome.
