Just Words
It was kind of a busy day today. I fought like mad against sloth and I mostly won.
I had coffee with Kelly First and Judi and Crunch this morning at a cafe that I mostly go to because it's close to Judi and it's a locally-owned business (but the truth is that the place has slow and often indifferent help, a danger when it comes to independent coffee houses near the university).
And speaking of the university, I was there today too. Classes started today and I braved the zoo-like campus, found parking (and paid handsomely for it), and attended a lab meeting of the lab I want to join next year. I did not have class today. I do not have class until tomorrow. Tomorrow I'll brave the zoo-like campus again, find parking again (and pay handsomely for it again) and go to class, a nearly three-hour lecture/lab combo.
I'm trying to be very positive, which is not easy for me; cynicism burns a hole in my pocket.
After leaving campus, I went grocery shopping at Whole Foods. When I go without a plan, I often end up as I did today, with bits and pieces of complete meals but no complete meal. I also forgot to buy dishsoap.
I had intended to come home, drop off the groceries, and go out to the studio. I have a handful of bowls that need to be trimmed, but it was so hot outside and so cool inside that I scrapped my plan and just watched a couple of old episodes of "Dead Like Me" on Netflix before I had to change into my swimsuit and go pick up Dave.
Yes, I was intending to go swimming, but swimming was canceled because of the small but vocal storm that came and sat almost directly over the pool. I did get to say hello to my aunt in the parking lot anyway--oh, and I did see the lifeguard who smashed his face on the diving board a few weeks ago. He looks alright (kids that age bounce back like rubber balls)--and he was on a skateboard (kids that age are not very bright about personal safety).
