New-ish Work
I spent a lot of time at the studio this weekend.
This is a stack of bisque that I gave a wash of iron oxide. Next I'll glaze them. That'll take a few weeks to complete probably.
"Bisque" as a word and a concept has always bothered/intrigued me. Bisque can refer to the firing or the ware, although the firing can be called "biscuit firing" and the ware "biscuit ware."
I think it's the biscuit to bisque shift that makes The Brain shudder. (I mean, who shortens "biscuit" to "bisque"? Makes no sense.) The same thing happens when I think about the word "refrigerator" being shortened to "fridge." I mean, where does that d come from?
