What's The Sky & Happy Things

2010-08-09 18.38.44.jpg

I like to play "What's the sky doing?"  This is what the sky was doing a couple of days ago as I waited for Dave outside his office around 5:30.

Things that have made me happy this week:

1. Throwing 13 bowls from a 20 lb. bag of clay (I actually threw 16, but 13 survived the process) and trimming all 13 a couple of days later.

2. Reading three new books on my Kindle: The last Stieg Larsson novel and two of Ruth Reichl's autobiographical works. I'm casting about for another K-book to download and while I do so, I've been slowly making my way through a free download of the Grimm's Brothers' Fairy Tales, which I have always loved but which must be taken in small bites to avoid a David Lynchian-type overdose.

3. Joining 750words.com and writing 750-plus words a day for four consecutive days. It took just over an hour (sixty-five minutes, to be exact) to write over 3,000 words. If a novel is 60,000 to 90,000 words (more or less), at the rate of 3,000 words/hour it could take as little as twenty to thirty hours to write a novel.  That's, like, Stephen King fast.

4. The empty storage unit. Very happy making, this.

It's done! Yay!
