Saturday
Because the woman who is teaching my botany class comes to the studio on Saturdays when I come in with Dave, I got to find out my grade on the test a few days early. (No one else will know their grades until Tuesday, when the class meets next.)
It was an 89, which is a high B. And I have the highest grade in the class. So that's something.
It's kind of funny, I realized, test taking. I mean, I care about doing well of course, but I don't actually care in the same way that I did when I was an undergrad. As an undergrad, I would have been pretty devastated with a B and I might have even considered dropping the class. Now, I'm, like, a B is fine.
It's not like if I fail this class the uni's going to send someone out to revoke the degrees that I already have.
Anyway, so: Yes, I did go to the studio today. I had a handful of things from last week that needed to be trimmed. Then I threw another bunch of things. I also collected a bunch of bisque wear that will now need to be glazed. My goal is to throw a bag of clay a week at least, and that's fine. That's the easy part. Beyond that is all the trimming and glazing that needs to be done. I'm awash in the products of the effort to throw a bag a week!
So after I trimmed and threw some more, I glazed a cup. Yes, a single cup. I only have about thirty more pieces that need to be glazed. But every journey begins with a single step, right?
That is another sculpture, Federico Armijo's Formas al Cielo. This is tucked away in some trees behind the duck pond and I rarely go past it.

Congrats on your test result and thanks for the pictures of the campus. The Naumun sculpture is amazing.
Thanks, Heather! We have so much wonderful art on campus, it's a privilege.
