This Week So Far

It's been a strange week, kinda. I'm still here with Crunch, dog- and house-sitting. I've been watching way too much cable TV (Deadliest Catch is on right now and I'm dividing time between that and House Hunters International while I type this out).

Day before yesterday someone rang the doorbell and Crunch barked and I opened the door to a young man scouting locations for the TV show Breaking Bad. I think he expected a less blase response to his potential offer to film in the house, but it's not the first time Judi and Paul have fielded the offer. I took his card and said I'd pass on the request.

Yesterday we were picking up some dinner at the co-op and I was chatting with the cashier who said that earlier in the evening Samuel L. Jackson had come in to do a bit of shopping. "What'd he buy?" I asked. The cashier said he bought mangoes, lots of fruits and vegetables.

This neighborhood is pretty popular for filming TV shows and movies. About six months before he died, I ran into some production including Dennis Hopper one morning while I was walking Crunch. On the same walk, a very large transvestite in a Hillary Clinton-eque pantsuit thanked me for picking up Crunch's poop.

In non-Hollywood type news, I have been eating out quite a bit this week. On Monday, I had lunch with Kelly and Shawn at Kokoro. That evening, I had dinner with Dave and Rudy at Viet Taste. Today I had dim sum with my aunt Char at Amerasia. Tonight I had dinner at Farina, a pizza place, with Dave and two of his co-workers (one current, one former), Yusef and Colleen.

It's a good thing I'm getting some exercise walking Crunch.
