In the Past Week
I'm house- and dog-sitting until Thursday. This past week I've watched about a million hours of TV, got sucked into a Project Runway marathon, way too many episodes of Sex & the City, hours and hours of Deadliest Catch. I've taken the opportunity to do about twenty loads of laundry using Judi's washing machine (our little apartment-sized washer doesn't do bedding). I've walked about fourteen miles with Crunch, picked up about twenty-one bags of dog poop, chastised two dog owners for letting their dogs run off their leashes, had to chat twice with a young man who has a shiba-inu called Momo.
In the past week, I've been to the studio five times, glazed four things, loaded five kilns.
In the past week, I've eaten at Kokoro twice (katsudon both times), at the bakery once (a turkey-avocado sandwich with provolone cheese), had a heartburn-inducing carne adovada burrito from Hurricane's, had pancakes with maple syrup for three meals. I've drunk five liters of mineral water and two bottles of bilberry nectar, all mixed together to make a kind of bilberry soda.
In the past week, I had my teeth cleaned (no cavities, but large pockets behind two teeth that have to be watched) and bought a water-pik.
I've slept too little--dreamless sleep, too, thankfully. Paul and Judi have a strange bed. It's filled with air and has a remote control that controls the amount of air in the mattress. It's not the least bit comfortable because for some reason the head and foot of the bed seem to be lower than the center of the bed no matter how much air is in it. I wake up with headaches unless I prop up my head on a folded pillow. That means I can't sleep on my stomach, which I usually do. Waa. Waa. Waa.
