A couple of years ago, Kelly's niece came out to visit with her husband and new baby and when we had dinner with them, Kelly's niece told us this thing Kelly used (?) to do, which was, she'd cut people out of photos.
Huh?
Apparently, when she'd take a photo of you, like say, in a group or something, and it wasn't the most flattering photo, she'd give you the photo only after carefully cutting you out of it. You know, to save your feelings about being an unphotogenic slob.
How hilarious is that?
About a week after hearing this story, I was reading Slate's advice column "Dear Prudence," and Prudence told the story of her mother who would use stamps to cover her own face in photos. When one would go looking for past vacation photos one would find mom's head carefully covered by, say, a Queen Elizabeth stamp.
I've been meaning to do this for years:
(Kelly and I at the balloon fiesta a few years back.)
See, I myself favor a black bar rather than a complete black-out or a stamp. I just happen to like the air of luridness a black bar adds. I also took the liberty of giving Kelly a vato-style mustache. I think it suits her! (Then again I think vato-style mustaches suit everyone, really.)
See?! How awesome do I look with a black bar and a vato 'stache? Pretty damned awesome.
Here's another picture, taken about six years ago:
No one is safe!!
